As discussed today, the outreach group will prove to be quite important and somewhat daunting. As I see it, there are several major categories of outreach that we need to start engaging in.
--Local Government ("City Hall") Be good neighbors and work together.
--Find us a home. We need to support our local businesses and we need a place to meet.
--Other groups and organizations. We're all in this together, and we want everyone's voices heard, so lets reach out to other groups who are in the same boat as us. That means people who might not seem like allies (Tea Party) at first, but its our job to find the commonality.
I know I'm missing some, there's more to this than I'm outlining here. Who can help, what can you do, and how soon can you start? This is something I will really need some help with.

I would like to see outreach into the community. Maybe posting flyers around your neighborhood and outreaching to those near you would be a good idea.

Yesterday we discussed finding out specifics about outdoor public spaces. I'm thinking the city clerk and/or assessor should have this. How about if 2 or 3 of us go and visit the clerk on (I'm choosing for now)...Tuesday... and see what he/she has to say? Or I could go alone but I don't live in the city and I think we should go as a group for answers, with at least one city resident in that group. That way if people have questions they get answered on the spot and we're not just coming from CPark to park in their park.
Also, there was talk of interfacing with police. They seemed friendly yesterday in my opinion. The one guy waved back at me. They just did a little cruise around the block thing. So, I'm thinking a small group stopping in and setting up a meeting time asap may be productive. Anyone available Monday to do this? Or shall we just call? Thoughts on how to proceed? Are there city residents on our committee?? I don't live in SSpr, so please sign up for our committee if you're a resident. Thank you.

All good ideas. I too am from Clifton Park. One proposal I suggested we consider was whether we should be Occupy Saratoga Springs or Occupy Saratoga. I listed a few reasons I think OS would be better than OSS in another post and would like to see some debate on this and gets peoples thoughts BEFORE a formal proposal is brought before our GA.
In looking for other locations to have our GA's we should strongly consider community centers, church's and the like. OA had their 1st 3 GA's in a community center and it worked well. I think the library is to small. We NEVER want to limit the number of attendees we can have and we want to have spirited open discussions something I don't think would work at the library. That being said the Library may work very well for working groups to meet.
